On Twitter I came across Rob who just started a digital venue for tree lovers. This Tree Club is only on Twitter now, but will be on Facebook soon too. “There is plenty to do, far too much trees are cut in our country”, says Rob. “Follow us, your support will eventually lead to less felling in our country, thus more trees have the chance to grow old”, tells the founder who declares May to Tree Month.
Robs initiative @BomenclubNederl, freely translated as ‘Tree Club Netherlands’, calls foresters, green municipal managers, site managers, nature guides and others with a love for trees, to take action and share their knowledge. Rob: “The more people with knowledge of trees, the more reasons they have in their opposition to the tree-cutting in another city and region.”
May is month of trees
He declared May to month of trees. “Then, many trees at their best.” The idea is to organise walking or cycling excursions. Individuals may adopt one or more trees. Rob also calls artists, writers, composers, poets, photographers, whoever has whatever talent, to do something with Trees Month. “Bring an ode to trees!” Thus trees enthusiasts: inspire others with your love!
Tree Club Netherlands strives that May Tree Month will be a large event within five years. “It must grow into a nationwide initiative, similar to the National Tree Day in March”, hopes the founder.
Tree Club Netherlands founder Rob writes a blog too.
